Jalandhar, July 23,2020: In a bid to make Virsa Vihar a unique hub of art and cultural activities in the state and connecting the younger generations with the rich and glorious heritage of the state, the Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today ordered complete facelift of Virsa Vihar and sanctioned Rs one lakh immediately for starting the renovation of the building.
During his maiden visit in Virsa Vihar, Deputy Commissioner said that the concerted efforts are being made to the ensuring giving new look to Virsa Vihar. Thori told that a blueprint has been prepared in this regard to ensure the Virsa Vihar could act as a catalyst for connecting our youngsters with rich cultural and of the state.
He also took stock of the construction work of open-air theatre and said that the open-air theatre is being built at the cost of Rs 10 lakh.
He said that the new open-air theatre will have a seating capacity of 200 people besides this will also have a control room for managing sound and lighting system and two green rooms. He also took a round of gallery section, general purpose hall, the auditorium.
The Deputy Commissioner solicited maximum participation of the people for this noble cause and asked the educational institutions to use this platform in the heart of the city for showcasing their work to the people.
Thori said that no stone would be left unturned for developing this place as a socio-cultural epi-centre of the region. He told that cultural events would be organized in the coming months at the Virsa Vihar.
The Deputy Commissioner said that such the primary motive of these activities would be to ensure that our future generations stay connected with our culture.
On the occasion, District Head GoG Major General (Retd) Balwinder Singh, APJ College Principal Sucharita, Dr Anoop Vats and others were present.
