COMMISIONERATE POLICE BUSTS INTERSTATE DRUG RACKET WITH ARREST OF TWO PERSONS SEIZE 1.5 KG HEROIN BROUGHT FROM DELHI

Jalandhar, February 14, 2019:The Commissionerate Police on Thursday busted an inter-state drug smuggling gang with the arrest of two persons including an ITI student and seized 1.5 kg heroin from their possession in Partappura Adda.

The accused have been identified as Subeg Singh alias Baba (35) of Latian village in Kapurthala and his brother-in-law Jatinder Singh (20) alias Gobinda of Daulewala village in Moga. 

Addressing the media persons in a press conference, Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar told that inspector Resham Singh, the head of Jandiala Police Post had a tip-off about the accused persons and nabbed them in Partappura Adda after recovering 1.5 kg heroin from their possession including 1 kg from Subeg and remaining from Jatinder Singh. 

 The Police Commissioner told in preliminary interrogation, Subeg Singh revealed that he works as a laborer and is also a drug addict. 

Bhullar told that the accused started smuggling the contraband to earn easy money and already facing two drug cases one in Kapurthala and the second in Kapurthala. 

Bhullar said that Subeg had brought this heroin from Delhi’s Dwarka of Rs 7 lakh per kg and usually sells the heroin for Rs 1200-1300 per gram in nearby villages here. 

Further, Subeg had already sold 1.5 kg contraband here after buying from Delhi in the last two months. The city police chief said Subeg holds the conversation with Delhi based supplier through Whatsapp call only and disclosed that Jatinder is the brother of his wife. 

“Similarly, Jatinder has been studying in 2nd-year welder trade course at ITI Kot Ise Khan and got indulged in the smuggling for easy money as the latter stated in his statement”, the police commissioner added. 

The Police Commissioner said that two of them have been booked under sections 21,  61 and 85 of NDPS Act and they would be interrogated further about his links in Delhi
