Chief Justice of India honours four prominent Punjabi personalities for life time achievements

Chandigarh, February 01, 2020: Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde on Saturday honored four prominent Punjabi personalities for their lifetime achievements. These awardees are world-famous environmentalist Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal, Dubai based social activist SPS Oberoi, Senior Journalist and Editor of web portal Babushahi.com Baljit Balli and Punjabi poet Padamshree Shri Surjit Pattar.

Global Achievement Award in Protection of Environment was conferred to Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal, Global Achievement Award in Social Service to SPS Oberoi, Global Achievement Award in Journalism to Baljit Balli and Global Achievement Award in Promotion of Punjabi Art Culture and Poetry to Padma Shri Surjit Patar.Supreme Court Judge ,Justice Mr Surya Kant conferred award to Patar on behalf of CJI.

The awards were conferred during the inaugural session of International Seminar on Philosophy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji presided by the CJI which was organized by the  Punjab and Haryana Bar Council at Punjab University Chandigarh.

Eminent internationally renowned personalities who graced the conference with their presence include Hon’ble Justice Surya Kant, Judge Supreme Court of India, Hon’ble Justice Rinzin Penjor, Supreme Court, Bhutan, Hon’ble Justice Cheema Grubb from England, Hon’ble Justice P.P. Surasena Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, Hon’ble Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana Ravi Shanker Jha, Ujjal Dosanjh, former Premier BC , Canada & former Federal Minister of Canada, Manan Mishra Chairman Bar Council of India, Mr. Horacio Bernardes Neto, President of International Bar Association, Michael A.N. N. Oquaye Esq. High Commissioner of Ghana, Hon’ble Justice Indira Banerjee, Judge Supreme court of India will chair the Valedictory Session.

Eminent scholars and experts present included Professor Pritam Singh from Oxford University, eminent Scholars Professor Doris Jakobsh from Waterloo University and Dr. Mark Juergensmeyer from University of California, and Harinam Singh Khalsa, renowned Kundalini Yoga Master and Sikh Preacher from New York.
