Chandigarh June 6, 2023:-

To mark the World environment Day, a tree plantation drive was initiated at the Panjab University, Chandigarh today, under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Renu Vig. On this occasion, saplings of shrubs, herbs and flowering plants were planted around the CIL/SAIF and student centre to beautify the campus. During this drive the University plans to plant┬аaround 8000 saplings┬аin the main campus and south campus of the Panjab University. Prof. Renu Vig motivated the gathering to take the 21Day challenge pledge under the тАЬLIFE- Lifestyle for EnvironmentтАЭ mission of the Govt. of India

Prof. Jatinder Grover, Dean Student Welfare, Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Chairperson, Department of Environment Studies, Prof. G.R. Chaudhary, Director SAIF/CIL, members from horticulture division, students and staff participated in the activity.

This event also marked the culmination of the activities under┬аWorld Environment Day week celebrations┬аcarried out by the Department of Environment Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh from 30th┬аMay, 2023 to 5th┬аJune, 2023.
