S.A.S. Nagar( Mohali) August 05, 2020: Trying to restore the momentum of work in district offices, disrupted by the COVID crisis, Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan reviewed the working of revenue offices here today.
“We are moving back to basics; day to day working of offices is being streamlined. It is difficult with the prevalent COVID crisis but moving step by step we will head towards restoring the normal functioning of the government offices”, said Girish Dayalan. “We will review challenges faced by each department, in small meetings held in a staggered manner and work out a methodology to deliver the best services amidst pandemic”, said he.
The first meeting held in this series has been with the revenue officials who have informed that a 7 to 8 day waiting is prevailing in property registration matters. Hence, we are writing to the state government to seek permission to increase the registration slots for each sub-registrar. Besides, to regulate the influx of people into sub-registrar offices extending working hours from 8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. is being explored to cope up with the pendency instead of regular 9 am to 5 p.m. Additional cameras, computers, other infrastructure and the duties of staff on rotational basis would be pressed into operation staff. We are also exploring the feasibility of holding Revenue Lok Adalat at Patwar Circle/ village level.
Besides, for public facilitation, we will once again commence holding the monthly camps under Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojana. In these camps, all key departments including Health and Family Welfare, Social Security, Agriculture, Cooperative, Employment Generation and Revenue, are roped in to deliver services to residents.
Surprise inspections by SDMs would be conducted to ensure that there is no laxity in the routine working of field offices/officers.
Besides others, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ashika Jain, Additional Deputy Commissioner(D) Rajiv Gupta, Himanshu Jain, Kuldeep Bawa, Jagdeep Sehgal(all SDMs) and DRO Major Benipal present on the occasion
