
CHANDIGARH–Top seed and CLTA trainee Sarthak Gandhi of win boys
under-18 singles title in the CLTA-AITA Championship Series (CS-3)
Tennis Tournament at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here today.
Sarthak Gandhi defeated Navya Verma in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.
In the first set both players played high-level tennis till 3-3. After
3-3 Sarthak Gandhi played top-level tennis and Sarthak took the next 3
games in a row to closed thet set 6-3. In the second set Sarthak
Gandhi maintained his momentum and used his aggressive groundstroke
from the baseline, finally, Sarthak took the set and match 6-1 by
conceding one game.
In the girls, under-18 singles finals fifth seed Riya Kaushik
upset top seed Harleen Kaur Dhanda in a 3 setter marathon match 6-2,
6-7(2), 6-2. Riya won the first set easily 6-2. In the second set
Harleen Kaur Dhanda fought back very well and won at 7-2 in a tie break.
In the deciding set Riya Kaushik came back strongly, Riya played smart
tennis and won final set easily without getting much pressure 6-2.
Mr. Romen Singh, Chief Coach, CLTA distributed the prizes to the
winners and runners-up of both the events.
