Chandigarh, 29,2020: August 2020:Reiterating his demand for immediate dismissal of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Affairs Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot a prime accused in embezzlement of Rs. 64 crores scholarships meant for Dalit students, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab state president and Member Parliament Bhagwant Mann said that if the ruling Congress did not sack this corrupt and anti-Dalit minister from the cabinet, Congress supremo Sonia and Rahul Gandhi would have to give an explanation during the monsoon session of Parliament.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters, Bhagwant Mann said that based on facts, documentary evidence and violation of rules in case of Rs. 63.81 Crores Post Matric Scholarship Scheme scam, Dharamsot should have been sacked immediately apart from registration of criminal case against him and his gang but the Amarinder Singh government wants to retain him (Dharamsot) as a minister instead of arresting him.
Bhagwant Mann said that the brazenness with which the Amarinder Singh government was shielding a corrupt minister raises doubts that the funds meant for the financial aid to Dalit students would have gone to the palace of the Chief Minister.
Welcoming the Union Government’s decision to initiate CBI probe into the multi-crore scam, Bhagwant Mann said that the scope of inquiry should be extended till the year 2012-13 as a scam of over Rs.1200 crore was reported in this scholarship scheme during SAD-BJP regime also and the inquiry should be under the supervision of a sitting judge of the High Court.
Giving a 24-hour ultimatum, Bhagwant Mann said that if the Congress fails to sack Minister Sadhu Singh, a state-level campaign would be launched against the Congress government and Dharamsot by Aam Aami Party from Jalandhar.
