03:03:2023: Amritsar:-The Executive Meeting of Principals’ Association of Non Govt. Affiliated Colleges, Guru Nanak
Dev University, Amritsar was held on 1st March 2023 at Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women,
Jalandhar under the Chairmanship of Dr. Gurdev Singh Randhawa, President.
Issues pertaining to higher education in the state were discussed thoroughly.
The Association stressed upon the State Government to address the crucial issue of retirement age
of employees working in Aided Colleges and restore 95% grant-in-aid scheme as well as
retirement age up to 60 years at the earliest. Though some positive indications have been emerging
since last week but only a prompt and favorable decision on part of state Government can save
higher education as well as interests of all the employees working in aided colleges. The
Association also requested the Chief Minister to restore fully 95% grant-in-aid scheme for all
employees working in Aided Colleges. It was also unanimously resolved that College
Managements should not panic and relieve their employees who have attained age of fifty-eight
and above.
The issue of centralized admission was also discussed threadbare and the
association feels there is no need of centralized portal as the student strength has been continuously
decreasing drastically in almost all colleges. This concept of centralized admission would further
hit for worst to all the colleges. Many colleges of state have already been shut and such step will
prove fetal for higher education institutions.
The Association requested the Government to regularize the salary grant to
aided colleges without any cut so that employees can have same respite in this pressing time. The
Association also stressed upon authorities of Guru Nanak Dev University to give patient hearing
to the problems being faced by aided colleges and solve them amicably for smooth functioning of
colleges.

Jalandhar attended the meeting. Dr. Gurdev Singh Randhawa, President of the Association passed
