Fatehgarh Sahib, September 12, 2020: The District Police claimed to have busted an inter-State gang of drug smugglers with the arrest of Three smugglers, whereas the fourth managed to flee and recovered 2 quintals of poppy husk, 150 Gm opium and a truck from their custody.
SSP Fatehgarh Sahib Amneet Kondal said that the district police have launched an aggressive campaign against the drug peddlers and round the clock nakas are being erected for checking of vehicles. She said that SHO Police Station Sirhind GS Sikand got secret information that drug smugglers are bringing heavy consignment of drugs in a truck to Punjab from other States. She said that he immediately erected Naka on GT Road Sirhind at Tarkhan Majra T point. She said police started checking of vehicles and the truck number PB-10-HE-7918 was stopped for checking, but the driver tried to flee and police overpowered and called DSP Fatehgarh Sahib Manjeet Singh for search and during the search police recovered 2 quintal poppy husk and 150 Gm. Opium. The three persons traveling in the truck were arrested, whereas one of their accomplices managed to flee. Those arrested were identified as Jasveer Singh, Gulbag Singh and Ravinder Singh, whereas their accomplice, who managed to flee as Lakhveer Singh.
SSP said that Lakhveer Singh alias Lakhi, who fled away and Jasveer Singh alias Jassa residents of Amloh town are already facing cases under NDPS Act at Sirhind, Amloh and Ghagha Police Stations.
