Webinar on“COVID-19 Vaccination” organized today

Chandigarh, January 20, 2021:   We need to be vigilant against rumours & disinformation campaign against the safety of COVID-19 vaccine said   Anuj Chandak, Deputy Director, Regional Outreach Bureau, Chandigarh, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. He said this during a webinar on “COVID-19vaccination” organized today by Press Information Bureau& Regional Outreach Bureau, Chandigarh. Briefing the participants about the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination programme by the Government of India across the country, he lauded the efforts of the scientific community for developing the vaccine and said that it shows our self-reliance and determination in the fight against the pandemic.

Dr. Gopal Berry, Deputy Mission Director, National Health Mission, Himachal Pradesh emphasized that COVID-19vaccine will ensure fight against coronavirus and have been approved by concerned authorities after going through a rigorous process. Adding further he said that there is no doubt about the efficacy of the vaccine and everybody should come forward and get themselves vaccinated whenever their turn comes. Talking about his experience, he said people are accepting and welcoming the vaccine and there has been no Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) case in the state of Himachal Pradesh as on today.

Also speaking during the virtual meet, another guest speaker Dr. Balwant Singh, Civil Surgeon, Jalandhar talked about the various challenge which are being faced during the vaccination drive. Answering a question from the participant, he said that people should not feel apprehensive about the vaccine.

The session concluded with Shri Hitesh Rawat, Assistant Director, Press Information Bureau (PIB), Chandigarh, presenting a vote of thanks to all the participants. Shri Rajesh Bali, Field Publicity Officer, Field Outreach Bureau, Jalandhar moderated the webinar. Other officials of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting from Chandigarh region and ASHA and Anganwadi workers also participated in the webinar.
