MCM celebrates World Car Free Day

Chandigarh,23, September:  On the occasion of World Car Free Day, the Department of Environment Science at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised a national level Logo Designing Competition. Held in collaboration with Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee, the competition witnessed enthusiastic response as over 70 participants from various parts of the country sent in their creative entries. Held with the aim to sensitise people about the importance of car free roads for the environment and to promote sustainable lifestyle, the competition required the participants to design a suitable logo for World Car Free Day. The winners were awarded cash prizes.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded this initiative of the Environment Science Department for drawing attention to the impact of vehicle emissions on our atmosphere and the need for adopting sustainable transport. She also stressed on promotion of walking and cycling for a safer environment.
