Jalandhar, October 24: The District Advisory Committee of the Youth Services Department today decided to start a massive awareness campaign to make the students aware about the various social maladies in Jalandhar and Kapurthala district.
The meeting of the committee was held in the local DAV College which was attended by six college Principals and 45 teachers along with the National Service Scheme (NSS) Program officers of the colleges/ schools. Divulging the details Assistant Director Youth Services Department Captain Inderjeet Singh Dhami said that under this campaign the major thrust would be on sensitizing the students against AIDS, drugs problem besides informing them about Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme, and environmental protection. He said that the students would be groomed as key resource persons in every village and ward of these districts.
Captain Dhami said that in this campaign 62 schools colleges of Jalandhar and Kapurthala would take part. He said that out of these 16 colleges and 40 schools would be from Jalandhar and six colleges and 10 schools would be from Kapurthala district. Captain Dhami said that this awareness campaign would be started in current fiscal and would be continued in Financial Year 2018-19 also.
On the occasion, best performing program officers were also felicitated.
Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Principals Dr. SK Arora, Dr. Ajay Sareen, Dr. SK Mahajan, Dr. Suman Tandon, Dr. Sarita Verma and others.
