As many as 2126 cases settled in Lok Adalat

Chandigarh, July 1 5, 2018 ( By SK.Vyas): National Legal Services Authority under the visionary Leadership of Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Judge Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman, National Legal Services Authority, organized National Lok Adalat in the district court, Sector 43 here on Saturday under the guidance of  Justice Krishan Murari, chief justice, Punjab and Haryana high court and patron-in-chief SLSA including  Justice Surya Kant, Executive Chairman, State Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh and Justice A.B. Chaudhari, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Administrative Judge.
A total of 2126 cases were disposed off by the benches of serving Judicial Officers which included 33 Criminal Compoundable cases involving an amount of Rs.43,000/-, 804 cases under Section 138 of N.I.Act involving an amount of Rs.10,21,33,023/-, three Bank Recovery cases involving an amount of Rs.2,50,000/- three Motor Accident Claim cases involving an amount of Rs.36,70,000/-, 33 cases of labour disputes involving a settlement amount of Rs.9,36,323/- 17 Matrimonial/Family Disputes, 50 Civil Suits and Rent Cases involving an amount of Rs.11,55,000/-, 53 Executions involving  an amount of Rs.3,17,72,432/-, 02 Criminal Revision, 06 Criminal Misc., 31 Civil Misc. involving an amount of Rs.1,79,28,107/-, 64 Arbitration cases, 04 Civil/Rent Appeals, 46 Untrace, 02 Criminal Appeals,  4 cases of Guardian & Succession Act Cases,  10 cases of 125 Cr.P.C., 09 cases of D.V. Act were disposed of,  44 cases relating to Municipal Matters imposing fine of Rs.6500/-, 58 cases relating to Registrar of Companies Act and Shop Act Cases with fine of Rs.3,57,700/-, 848 Traffic Challans were disposed of by imposing a fine of Rs.3,76,000/-, 02 other Act Case involving an amount of Rs.16,000/- and 240 cases involving an amount of Rs.1,62,017/- were disposed of by Permanent Lok Adalat (Public Utility Services).  In addition to this 14 pre-litigation cases involving an amount of Rs.5,91,500/- were also settled.
For this purpose 13 Benches headed by the serving Judicial Officers were constituted in the District Courts, Sector-43, Chandigarh. Criminal Compoundable cases, cases under Section 138 of N.I.Act, Bank Recovery cases, MACT Cases, Matrimonial Disputes, Labour Disputes, Arbitration matters, other Civil Cases,  Municipal Matters and Traffic Challans were taken up and disposed of with the consent of the parties. Mr.Balbir Singh, District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh, Mr.Mahavir Singh, Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh and Amarinder Sharma, Secretary, DLSA, Chandigarh also visited the benches of District Courts Complex, Chandigarh and pursued the cases for amicable settlement.
Mr.Balbir Singh, Mahavir Singh and Amarinder Sharma, Secretary, DLSA, Chandigarh thanked the general public for making this Lok Adalat a success and further appealed to resolve their disputes through the Lok Adalats as it provided quick and economic justice.
