Ferozepur, August 23, 2020: Jammu and Kashmir, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday reviewed the progress of the work on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway line with railway officials.
The meeting held at the Civil Secretariat here was also attended by Railway Board Chairman Vinod Kumar Yadav, L-G’s Adviser KK Sharma, Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam and Northern Railway General Manager Rajiv Chaudhary, besides other senior officials from the Indian Railways – Rajesh Aggarwal, DRM Ferozepur Division, Principal Chief Engineer, R. C. Thakur, Principal Chief Operating Manager Rajiv Saxena, Chief Administrative Officer / C A. K. Lahoti, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Jammu Ramnik Singh and IRCON, and Konkan Railways Corporation Limited. All those who attended the meeting were put to Covid-19 Antigen test as a precautionary measure and all were tested negative. The aim of the meeting was to complete the project timely and Lt Governor was informed that the ambitious project – Chinav Bridge would be completed during 2021 and Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link project by December 2022 and the 272-km the railway line would cost Rs 27,949 crore. Under this project, the project between Katra and Banihal is most difficult as the rail line passes through the inaccessible areas of the Himalayas. Sinha assured full support to the executing agencies for its timely completion.
