Beekeeping ensures decent income for farmers- Dr. Bhajan Singh Saini
Jalandhar, January 19,2021: To improve the economic condition of the farmers of the state by enhancing their income, The Horticulture Department in association with Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Farm Advisory Centre organized a Beekeeping Training Course from January 11 to 19.
Presiding over the concluding session of the course, Assistant Director Horticulture Dr. Bhajan Singh Saini said that Horticulture Department has been encouraging the farmers to adopt allied occupations like Bee Keeping to enhance their income.
He asked the trainees to register with the National Bee-Board and avail financial benefits under various schemes. He called upon the farmers to ensure they get enrolled under various training courses conducted by the Punjab government to make their profession more profitable.
Assistant Director Horticulture further said that during beekeeping, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Kataria and Dr. Ritu Raj detailed the trainees about the necessary equipment needed for starting this business, how to ensure proper care of bees in different seasons, various products.
Assistant Director Dr. Sukhdeep Singh Hundal also gave information regarding the facilities provided by the horticulture department.
On this occasion, Horticulture Development Officer Dr. Pritpal Singh Bath thanked the experts and students for coming. The literature on beekeeping was also distributed among the trainees on the occasion.
