Jalandhar, January 8, 2020; To appraise the Assembly Level Master Trainers (ALMTs) about the importance of Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs), a training cum workshop was organized for them by the Election Commission of India.
During the training held at conference hall of the District Administrative Complex, the District Level Master Trainers (DLMTs) including District Education Officer Harinder Pal Singh, Head of Political Science Department KVM College Prof. Aashima Sahni and Sub Divisional Officer Balraj Singh Gill along with Election Tehsildar Manjit Singh and Kanunga Rakesh Arora apprised the ALMTs about the role of ELCs in making the students and prospective voters aware of the importance of Right to Vote. They said that it was a matter of great pride and satisfaction youth were the largest stakeholders in the democratic system of the country.
The DLMTs said that the aim of setting up Electoral Literacy Clubs in schools was to make the prospective voters especially the students of 10+1 and 10+2 in schools and colleges aware of their right to vote. They said that it was all the more important for making them an active partner in the democratic process of the country. They asked the ALMTs to expedite the activities under the Electoral Literacy Clubs to make more and more students aware of their democratic rights.
