Jalandhar, January 23, 2020: Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that the ongoing Economic Census was all the most important for the collection of economical statics to give a fillip to the ongoing socio-economic development of the state in general and district in particular.
Chairing a meeting of the district-level committee to review the ongoing economic census in the district, the Deputy Commissioner asked the officers to expedite the process of completion of this census for the comprehensive development of the country and prosperity of its people. He said that the officers must accord top priority for the accomplishment of this noble task in a time-bound manner. Sharma said that this work has a lot of significance to give a boost to the economic development of the country.
The Deputy Commissioner said that a district level committee headed by him has been set up in each district for the successful completion of the census. He appealed those who would be involved in the exercise not only to ensure that they cover all establishments but also obtain accurate data. Mr. Sharma exhorted the people to extend fulsome support and cooperation to the staff involved in conducting this mammoth exercise.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the fieldwork for the census has already started from September 9 across the country. He said that for the district 480 enumerators along with 115 supervisors have been appointed for Rural areas and 640 enumerators along with 179 have been appointed for the urban areas. Sharma said that the seventh economic census would be done through Mobile applications for which staff has been duly trained.
On the occasion Deputy Economic and Census Advisor Sunita Paul, Deputy Director NSSO Pallavi Aggarwal and others were also present.
