Jalandhar, February 14,2019: The Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma on Thursday asked the officials to embark a massive awareness campaign to make the farmers aware about Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PMKSN) to bail them out from the current agrarian crisis.
Presiding over a meeting here at the District Administrative Complex today, the Deputy Commissioner said that under this scheme the government would transfer financial support worth Rs 6000 annually into the accounts of the farmers. He directed the officials of co-operative to ensure the availability of self-declaration forms in all 245 co-operative societies and told agriculture and panchayat departments to carry out the public announcements in the all 890 villages through its field staff so that all eligible farmers can take benefit of the scheme. Mr. Sharma categorically asked the officials that there must not be any shortage of forms in the societies so that the farmers do not suffer from getting the form.
Revealing about the criteria of the scheme, the Deputy Commissioner said that every small and marginal farmer who was not even a member of the co-operative society and has five-acre land can become eligible for the scheme. Sharma said that after collecting the forms, the details of claimants would be entered in the specially designed software by the co-operative department and then SDMs would conduct revenue verification by Patwari and others. He said that the scheme is aimed to bail out the farmers out of the distress and crisis and strengthening the rural economy. Sharma stated that the Punjab government is committed to providing the benefit of the scheme to all the eligible farmers of the district under this scheme.
On the occasion, ADC (G) Jasbir Singh, SDM-II Paramvir Singh, SDM Nakodar Amit Kumar Panchal, SDM-1 Sanjiv Sharma, SDM Phillaur Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa, DRO Jashanjit Singh and others were present.
