Searches at 9 Places Led to Finding Documents of 44 Immovable Properties, Bank Account Deposits and Cash Recovery of Rs.10 lakh(approx)
New Delhi Feb 2, 2021: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against then District Magistrate (IAS/Retired), Kaushambi(Uttar Pradesh) and nine private persons( residents of Kaushambi & Allahabad) & other unknown officials/persons under the Orders of Hon’ble High Court of Allahabad passed in PIL No .22482/2016 to investigate cases relating to illegal mining of minor minerals in UP. It was alleged that during the year 2012-14, the then District Magistrate, Kaushambi (Uttar Pradesh) had awarded 02 fresh leases and also renewed 09 existing leases to the other accused to facilitate illegal mining of Minor Minerals in District Kaushambi (U.P) without following e-tendering procedure as mentioned in the orders dated 31.05.2012. of Uttar Pradesh Government.
Searches were conducted at the premises of accused at 09 different places in the Districts of Kaushambi & Lucknow which led to recovery of various incriminating documents. During searches at the premises of then District Magistrate, a cash of Rs.10 Lakh(approx); documents relating to around 44 immovable properties; fixed deposits worth Rs. 51 Lakh(approx); around 36 bank accounts, in the name of said public servant and his family members at Lucknow, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, New Delhi and keys of 06 Lockers were found. Gold & silver jewellery of Rs.2.11 crore(approx) and old currency of Rs.One Lakh(approx) were also found in the lockers.
The investigation is continuing.
