CBI files supplementary Charges in separate cases related to VYAPAM

New Delhi December 8, 2020:  The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed two supplementary charge sheets in separate cases related to PMT-2009 and TCRT-2012 examinations conducted by Vyapam.

In the first case, a supplementary charge sheet has been filed in the Court of Special Magistrate, CBI, Vyapam Cases, Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) against 126 accused including candidates, Impersonators, Parents/Guardians & middlemen related to PMT-2009 examination conducted by Vyapam. CBI had registered the case on 21.08.2015 on the orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and taken over the investigation of FIR No. 138/2013 dated 19.04.2013 of Police Station Jhansi Road, Gwalior. During CBI investigation, it was found that 36 candidates had allegedly arranged impersonators to appear in the written examination of MP PMT-2009 on their behalf with the help of middlemen, parents and accordingly they illegally passed the examination and got admission in a private Medical College, Gwalior. CBI had prepared a database of around 16 lakh students including the students who were taking coaching of PMT in various coaching classes, MBBS students of various medical colleges, registered doctors, etc. and got compared the photos of impersonators available in the applications of accused candidates, thereby found some new impersonators. CBI also took expert opinions on photographs and handwritings available on the OMR answer sheets of accused candidates. Earlier, CBI had filed a charge sheet against the accused on 28.06.2016.

In another case, a supplementary charge sheet has been filed in the Court of Special Judge, CBI, Vyapam Cases, Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) against 18 candidates who had arranged impersonators to write the written examination of TCRT- 2012 on their behalf and accordingly they illegally passed the examination and got recruited into the Transport Department.

CBI had registered the said case on the orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and taken over the investigation of Case No. 18/2014 of Police Station STF, Bhopal related to alleged manipulation in OMR Answer sheet and digital data of certain candidates of the Transport Constable Recruitment Test- 2012 conducted by Vyapam. Earlier, a supplementary charge sheet was filed on 19.01.2019 by CBI against 26 accused.

The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
