Avail benefit of old age, widow, disability pension schemes under NSAP- DC Presently, 5460 active beneficiaries registered for monthly financial aid in Jalandhar under NSAP- Ghanshyam Thori People can contact 0181-2459634 for any assistance

Jalandhar, June 20:  Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Monday called upon people to avail maximum benefit of various social security schemes including Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension, Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension, Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension and National Family Benefit Scheme.

Giving details, the Deputy Commissioner said that under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, BPL persons aged between 60-79 years of age were eligible for a monthly pension of Rs 200 and Rs 500 for the persons above 80. He said in Jalandhar, 4344 eligible persons were registered and receiving monthly monetary assistance in the scheme in financial year 2021-22.

Under Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme, Deputy Commissioner said widows belonging to BPL category aged 40-79 years were entitled to a monthly pension of Rs. 300 and Rs 500 was being given to the widows above 80 years. As many as 893 beneficiaries have availed the benefit of this scheme.

Similarly, Thori said that 223 eligible persons were getting monthly pension under Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme in Jalandhar.

He said that BPL disabled persons aged 18-79 years with more than 80-percent disability were entitled to receive monthly pension of Rs 300 and monthly pension of Rs 500 was being given to the people above 80 years. A total of 223 eligible persons were getting the advantage of this scheme in Jalandhar.

Deputy Commissioner added under National Family Benefit Scheme, a BPL household is entitled to get one – time financial assistance of Rs 20000 on the death of breadwinner aged between 18 and 60 years.

Thori said these schemes were being run by Union government under National Social Assistance Program to provide monthly monetary help to the people belonging to BPL category as per Social Economic Caste Census 2011.
He further directed the officials to make people aware of the scheme through campaigns in district through panchayats and MCs.

Necessary documents include Adhar card , BPL card, passport size photo and active bank account for all pension schemes. For widow pension and NFBS scheme, death certificate of husband/ bread-winner and disability certificate(UDID card)
for disability pension.

Exhorting the eligible persons, Thori said that people could contact 0181-2459634 to social security officials for any assistance/information in this regard or visit the office of District Social Security Officer in district administrative complex backside Suwidha Centre.
