As many as 297 ofcases were amicably settled in National Lok Adalat

Fatehgarh Sahib, 10 April,2021: Under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority and as per the directions of Punjab State Legal Services Authority, a National Lok Adalat was organized at Sessions Division, Fatehgarh Sahib on 10.04.2021 in which a total number of 8 Benches were constituted, in which various cases viz.  MACT, Section 138 NI Act, Criminal Compoundable cases, traffic challans etc. were taken up and disposed off.

COVID-19 protocols viz. wearing of face masks & social distancing were also observed.

A total number of 628 cases were taken up for settlement out of which 297 number of cases were amicably settled for a total amount of Rs. 46932392/-. The litigants as well as lawyer actively participated in Lok Adalat.

Nirbhow Singh Gill, District and Sessions Judge -cum- Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib said that the major benefits of Lok Adalat are that the court fees paid by the litigant is refundable and the decision passed by the Lok Adalat is final and binding upon the parties. It was appealed by him that litigants should endear themselves to Lok Adalats so to avail cost and time effective and perpetual benefits.
