CHANDIGARH—A group of 35 NSS volunteers of various city government schools will be visiting Dadra and Nagar Haveli from February 18-22 next under “Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat” an initiative of the government of India. Besides, five officials will also accompany the group. It was stated Bikram Rana, State Liasion Officer, NSS Cell, Chandigarh.
In this context, a meeting was held with the NSS volunteers and their parents in the government model senior secondary school, MHC, Manimajra, here on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Mr Rana. In the meeting volunteers were apprised of various points. Their parents were also conveyed visit schedule.
While talking to Mr Rana said that they would carry out a structured engagement with one another in language, literature, cuisine, festivals, cultural events, tourism of Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana.
Main objectives of the initiative are to celebrate the unity in diversity; to promote the spirit of national integration; to showcase the rich heritage and culture, customs and traditions to set up long term engagements to create and environment that promotes learning between states by sharing practices and experiences through this initiative.
Rana also admitted that the initiative was marked dots on the national map and went well with the youth of the country. The Chandigarh Education Department has also been organizing suggested activities under the initiative in all schools. The schools are required to maintain a report of activities conducted under the initiative in the form of quarterly and annual school report. This annual report is shared with partnering states/UTs.
