Services Authority, New Delhi and Punjab State Legal Services
Authority, S.A.S. Nagar a National Lok Adalat was organized on
08.12.2018 in Judicial Courts, Ludhiana as well as Sub-Divisions
Jagraon, Khanna, Samrala, and Payal under the Chairmanship of Sh.
Gurbir Singh, Ld. District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District
Legal Service Authority, Ludhiana.

In this Lok Adalat all type of pre-litigative cases and
pending cases especially criminal compoundable cases, cases under
section 138 N.I. Act, recovery cases, matrimonial disputes, labour
disputes, traffic challans, pre-bargaining cases, bank loan cases and
other civil matters were taken up. Total 34 benches were constituted
for holding the Lok Adalat under the district and each bench was
presided by a Judicial Officer and a senior Advocate as well as a
Social Worker were also deputed for the assistance of the Presiding
Officer. The benches of Lok Adalat were presided over by Sh. Arunvir

Total 9776 cases were taken up for disposal out of which
4241 cases were settled by amicable settlement of both the parties.
Total Award of Rs. 53,31,70,429/- were passed by all the benches.
On this occasion, Sh. Gurbir Singh, Ld. District and
Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority,
Ludhiana told that main purpose of this National Lok Adalat is to
settle the cases amicably. He further told that the court fee is also
refunded in the cases which are settled through Lok Adalat. He further
told that with the settlement of cases through Lok Adalat, the money
and time is saved and no appeal is lies before any court in those
cases.
Ld. District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services
Authority, Ludhiana appealed to general public to settle their cases
through the medium of Lok Adalat.
