Chandigarh, October 18, 2020: As many as 34 participants have been imparted training during a three-day online training programme organized on beekeeping by Co-director (Training) of Saina Nehwal Institute of Agricultural Technology, Training & Education of the Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar, Dr Ashok Godara.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the training programme, he said that bee pollination results in better crop productivity. Farmers can increase their income by adopting beekeeping as a cooperative business along with farming, he added.
He said that farmers can expand their business to a larger scale while initially investing only a small amount on beekeeping. People having land shortage can also start this business. Beekeeping is profitable in winter season as in this time period there are more number of flowers which are necessary for bees to collect nectar. He said that by adopting beekeeping, farmers can also earn more profit from other substances such as wax, propolis, pollen, royal jelly, etc. besides honey. During this training programme, Dr. Bhupindra Singh and Dr. Surendra Singh associated as the coordinators.
