Jalandhar, August 28,2020: District Jalandhar has been listed among top twelve districts of the country which were competing for the coveted Prime Minister’s award for implementing public service delivery efficiently.
Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Ghanshyam Thori on Friday through video conference gave a PowerPoint presentation to the panel of Government of India (GOI) about steps being taken by the administration to improve the public services delivery in the district.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Ghanshyam Thori said that the district has been at the leading position during the first two stages of this award competition. He further added that today a PowerPoint presentation has been given to the screening committee of Government Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India.
The Deputy Commissioner while crediting the entire team of district administration Jalandhar for this success said that it was a matter of immense that the name of Jalandhar is flourishing on the national level for making tremendous improvements in citizen services.
Thori added that with constant monitoring and reviewing of working of Seva Kendras in the district, the uninterrupted and hassle-free services to the citizens could be ensured.
Pointing out further, Thori stated that the Sewa Kendras in the district received as many as 3, 028, 46 applications to date since January 1, 2020, of which a total of 2,96,382 applicants were provided with the services. There was pendency of only 211 applications with a pendency rate at 0.07 percent, he added. He said that as of now, as many as 1730 applications were under process however, 3744 applications have been sent back to applicants due to lack of proper documentation.
Thori further mentioned that during the same period, the district administration has received 1172 complaints out of which 1161 complaints have been disposed of with a redressal rate at 99.06 percent.
The Deputy Commissioner told that the Sewa Kendras were opened by the State Government to facilitate the people with more than 276 citizen services under one roof and any sort of laxity in delivery of said services would not be tolerated at any cost.
DC said that zero-tolerance policy is being adopted against any sort of inordinate delay by the Sewa Kendras and stern action would be taken against the management of Sewa Kendras if found negligent.
The Sub Divisional Magistrates had also been tasked to carry out inspections in Sewa Kendras to take stock of the functioning of these centers in larger public interests, said Thori. He said that Sewa Kendras were acting as a facilitating agency for the people coming for their routine administrative works.
